Biography:

Being born before the big development era that overcame central NJ, Carol Harrison was able to experience exploration of the wooded areas in back of her house as she grew up in Flemington, NJ. A life-long resident of Hunterdon County, most of her young life was occupied by very active interaction with nature - tree climbing, fort building, fishing in streams, and building little cities in dirt mounds. Indoor activity always involved a pencil or crayon, water colors, or little paint sets. Before she was old enough to attend school, Carol remembers hours spent on the kitchen floor doing drawing after drawing, each time trying to make the next one a little better.

Vacations were mostly spent at her Grandparents' farm, where rides on tractors and play in hay mounds and cornfields left vivid memories that are reflected in many of her paintings.

After her marriage, through the encouragement of her husband Stephen, Carol explored the world through photography. This led to different avenues of exploration in light, color, and nature. As Carol's style matured, the intensity of light and shadow became the primary focus of her work.

Presently, Carol is showing her work at local juried shows and has sold at the Phillip's Mill in Tinicum, PA, and won ribbons at many shows. She was featured in the magazine Delaware Valley in 1990, and was commissioned for artwork for the “Flemington Guide Book and Calendar” in 1990.

Carol graduated from Glassboro State Teacher's College with a BA in art.
